Shine some light on the business of beauty! Require that products -- like fragarnces and other cosmetics -- which are released to market without being substantiated for safety carry your consumer alert: 'WARNING: The safety of this product has not been determined.' (http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-206.html) 9/29/03: The FDA has officially begun "Preliminary scientific reviews of the petition." Remember, fragrances are derived from petrochemicals and enter the bodies of users and nonusers through absorption and inhalation. Provide a public record. Inform the FDA! Please write, fax or e-mail the FDA in support of EHN's FDA Citizens' Petition, 99P-1340. Check the analyses. More than just phthaltes were found. See how much is NOT known about all of the chemicals used. Enter Docket Number 99P-1340 on your subject line. E-mail FDA Dockets at fdadockets@oc.fda.gov EHN's site is one of two homes of the FDA Petition, with analyses, contact information, sample letters and complementary information. http://www.ehnca.org/www/FDApetition/bkgrinfo.htm The other site is that of Betty Bridges, RN and her renowned Fragranced Products Information Network http://www.fpinva.org/Activist/activist__advocacy.FDA99P1340.htm

Dear Visitors: EHN's site is deliberately kept "fancy-free" so our EI/MCS community members can more easily use it ... and I can more easily handle the workload. For those of you who feel you must see credentials before believing what you see on a website: I'm a wife, mother, grandmother and formerly gainfully employed. I earned an AA, while working and raising three kids. I understand that an AA in this day and age means little, but it means a lot to me. My favorite studies included Political Science and Anthropology. When I was forced into early retirement, I vowed to make as much good information available to the public as was humanly possible for me. . . . Please note, FastCounter had many problems near the end of 1999 and into early 2000.
Our count had reached the 5,000 count, and dropped back 1,000 and 2,000 hits repeatedly
the last quarter of 1999. FASTCOUNTER has been working fine since spring 2000. However, the
current total is far under what it should read. -- barb)Please note: If you have an Apple Monitor that cannot hold the color,
