SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON
THE RIGHTS OF THE DISABLED
SENATOR MILTON MARKS
CHAIRMAN

FINAL REPORT

ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ILLNESS/ MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY AND OTHER RELATED CONDITIONS

SEPTEMBER 30, 1996

[Part 3]

ADVISORY PANEL

In April 1993 Senator Marks convened a Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel comprised of people with varying degrees of environmental illness or chemical sensitivity, advocates for people with disabilities, representatives of relevant departments of state government and the private sector related to air quality, food, agriculture, energy, environment, building standards, architecture, medical and health related professionals and representatives of the chemical, pesticide, cosmetics, fragrances, soap and detergent, building and construction industries, architects, building owners and managers; and an Honorary Panel of nationwide leaders interested in EI/MCS.

Some members of the Advisory Panel were very active, others read reports and commented and a few were kept apprised of activities but chose not to participate. The Advisory Panel met in Task Forces to do the basic work; Building Standards and Construction, Environmentally Ill, Industry and Medical and Health. Some member of the Honorary Panel participated in the two large meetings, others sent their comments. Some members had schedule conflicts and were unable to participate actively but wanted to continue to receive reports.

Titles and positions were those held when the Advisory Committee was active in 1993 - 1994. Those without titles were interested persons who were knowledgeable about the issue or EI/MCS activists.

DISCLAIMER: WHILE THE FOLLOWING PERSONS MAY HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE OR LITTLE DIRECT PARTICIPATION IN THE ADVISORY PANEL PROCESS AND MEETINGS, NONE OF THEM HAS SEEN OR ENDORSED THIS REPORT IN ITS FINAL FORM.
