I have compiled a list of 1560 chemicals that are used in the fragrance/flavors industry along with their Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) registry numbers. The CAS number is simply a unique identification number. A lot of chemicals have different synonyms, but they only have one CAS number. This makes it easier to look up Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical information.

This is not a complete listing by any means as there are over 5000 chemicals used in the fragrance and flavors industries.

There has been no attempt to sort out which chemicals have potential health effects, it is simply a listing. Most of these chemicals came from either Aldrich's Flavors & Fragrance catalog or the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, 1992 cross reference list. The remainder came from chemical fact sheets, online chemical catalogs and various other industry sources.

This list does not address any particular brand or type of product, but it does give an idea of what types of chemicals are used in the fragrance/flavors industries. Feel free to share the list.

The user of the list is responsible for verifying the information as there may be typos. Search the tables that follow by clicking on the leading alpha character.
